Eco Friendly

Reduce Reuse Recycle.

We are committed to the 3R’s principle – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle. Through Pacific Linen’s business model, we aim to contribute to the sustainable development of society and that of the environment with which we interact.

We reduce the amount of energy we use by utilising energy efficient machinery for example by using high spin washers to reduce the amount of drying energy used. Most of our textiles are polyester blend which uses less water in the wash cycle and, as a result needs less heat in the drying and ironing cycle.  Difficult stains are removed with spot-cleaning using bio-degradable chemicals like Citrus cleaner and some proven old-fashioned low impact natural solutions such as vinegar, white spirits and cinnamon oils to spot clean and reduce the chemical output from the washing process.

When table linen is damaged or has stains that can’t be removed, where possible we cut them down to the nearest usable size and reuse them in our rental stock.

The majority of our waste is sent to a recycle facility, including paper, plastics and cardboard.

Our History

How We Came To Be

Our linen trade, laundering textile care connection and love of all things linen stems from our founding Directors, Gaylene Ashby and Jo Staveley’s, Great Grand Mother, Kate Rodgers. Wind back to 1901 and the arrival of Kate to our shores, Kate was also in the linen trade being formerly in the employ of the world famous, Royal Irish Linen Warehouse in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The linen tradition continued over the years until Gaylene and Jo’s wonderful Mother, Carole run her own “Tender Care” Laundry in Papakura and the girls used to help out thus learning the commercial laundering, linen trade, custom manufacturing, small mending and fabric care on the job to continue the traditions into the next generation.
